In my family, there are two musicians - Lee Seung Jae and Goo Chang Mo. Both of them are my grandmother's family. Lee Seung Jae is her younger brother and Goo Chang Mo is her cousin. My "event" of family history is Lee Seung Jae and Goo Chang Mo becoming musicians and working as musician, and this "event" is not over yet since they are still working as musicians these days. I chose these events because I thought they are significant not only to my family - but it is also significant to Korean music. Also, I am interested in music and those 2 musicians are my inspiration because they are my family and it shows me that there is possibility for me, too. This have changed our family a lot because of musician in our family.

Lee Seung Jae was singer and guitarist. He started to learn playing Guitar when he was 15. Surprisingly, he was very talented at playing guitar. In fact, only in 2 weeks, he became a fluent guitar player. His teacher said that there was nothing more to teach to him. His first work as musician was singing Beatles' song in Concert for U.S. Armies. At the concert, Sin Jung Hyun, a legendary guitarist, invited him to his band. In result, he joined the band called Add 4. Add 4 was band of 4 people. Because of Sin Jung Hyun, it is still remembered these days. Later, he became a solo singer and sang his first song, 눈동자 (Eye), made by song writer called Kim Hee Gab . The picture on right is him singing 눈동자 With 눈동자, he was nominated for Rookie of the Year Award. He had other hit songs like 아득히 먼곳, too. Now, he is not singer anymore. He became a church minister, still working today.

Goo Chang Mo is a singer and song writer. His first debut was in Gang Byun Song Festival in 1987, singing 구름과 나 (Cloud and Me) in a band called Black Tétra, which was Hong Ik University's Band. After the festival, he created a band called Song Gol Mae with a famous singer, Bae Chul Soo. Song Gol Mae became insanely famous. Goo Chang Mo sang and wrote lots of songs that became great hit, like 어쩌다 마주친 그대 and 모두 다 사랑하리 . He is not in Song Gol Mae now, but they are still singing these days. After 4 years in Song Gol Mae, he debuted as a solo singer. Again, he wrote and sang lots of famous songs like 희나리 (Wet Firewood). After his golden age, he re-joined Song Gol Mae and worked with them for few years. The newspaper article on the left is about him re-joining Song Gol Mae. Afterwards, he went to Kazakhstan and started a business of car seller. Unfortunately, he did not do so well. Because of his failure in business, he came back to Korea, but he had no job for a while. In 1999, he published a recording / agency company and created a singer group called Aja, but they did not succeed, too. Starting last year, he became a radio DJ at SBS LoveFM (103.5MHz). Currently, he is DJ of 브라보 라디오 구창모입니다, which is aired from 6:05 PM Monday ~ Friday. He is known as one of the legendary singers / song writers in Korean history. He songs are sang by other singers even to these days. Lee Seung Jae did not sing for long time, so he is not as famous as Goo Chang Mo, but his two songs - 눈동자 and 아득히 먼 곳 - is still remembered as great songs. Lee Seung Jae's 아득히 먼 곳 was also sang by Goo Chang Mo Even though it is the only song, it tells me that as family, they shared songs. (However, it is not known in the public that they are cousins.)
